We can build the precise knowledge and tools to deeply understand and safely navigate these tightly coupled systems and radically expand our options to secure resilient ecosystems and a flourishing planet.
Developing Future Innovators
The climate and nature crises will not be solved within the boundaries of any single discipline. Progress will depend on researchers who can move between fields, challenge established assumptions and combine radically different ways of seeing and solving problems. Building that capability means creating a pipeline of bold, interdisciplinary thinkers with the freedom, skills and ambition to pursue new approaches to some of the most complex systems on Earth.
Mast-EER: a Masters by Research to advance ecosystem resilience

Backed by £500,000, Mast-EER is a Masters by Research (MbyRes) programme at the University of Exeter that aims to develop a cohort of 20 interdisciplinary ecological scientists who are comfortable working at the edge of what is currently possible in order to bring about a step-change for ecosystem resilience.
A pilot for ARIA, the students will be based at the University's Penryn Campus in Cornwall and will each undertake an independent research project on the theme of engineering ecosystem resilience.

Launch4Change
Partnering with Durham University Spaceflight through Launch4Change, we are connecting university rocketry teams with schools in areas with low participation in higher education. University students mentor secondary pupils to build climate-focused payloads for rockets, sparking interest in STEM careers while solving real programme challenges.
Undergraduates from 10 universities – including Bristol, Glasgow, and Queens Belfast – are connecting with local schools to mentor pupils, helping them build climate-focused payloads for the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge.
